Kesytön metsä
Oulu Urban Culture strives for the most sustainable solutions and perspectives in its operations, such as events, projects, and procurements. However, it is inevitable that cultural activities also consume natural resources and generate emissions. The goal of our Kesytön metsä campaign (Untamed Forest in English) is to establish a conservation area in Northern Ostrobothnia as part of Oulu's journey to become the European Capital of Culture in 2026.
The campaign aims to raise funds for forest conservation in connection with cultural productions. Oulu Urban Culture donates a portion of its own proceeds to the campaign and encourages event attendees, partners, and other cultural actors to participate in the fundraising. We want Oulu2026 activities to sprout as an untamed forest in our region well into the future.
The campaign was conceived by Oulu Urban Culture ry in collaboration with the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation. The collection was established in March 2023 and is valid for three years.
You can participate in the campaign at any time on the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation's website. More information can be found in Finnish through this link.
